OCD Therapy Process

Break free from the cycle of obsessions and compulsions with a proven, step-by-step OCD therapy process.

The OCD Cycle

First, we slow down and name what’s actually happening.

Obsessions (those sticky, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges) are like alarms that won’t turn off.

Compulsions (the checking, cleaning, counting, mental reviewing, reassurance seeking) are the quick "fixes" that silence the alarm… for a moment ... until the alarm becomes stronger. Then the compulsions become "addictive" so you're stuck in them.

Together, we learn a new way to meet the alarm so you don’t have to live by its rules.

Therapy Methods

We use methods that are evidence-based and practical:

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): gentle, structured exercises that help your brain learn, “I can feel this discomfort and still be safe,” while you practice not doing the compulsion. It’s not about suffering—it’s about building confidence one small step at a time.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): tools to unhook from anxious thoughts, anchor in your values, and take the next right action—even while uncertainty is present.

Internal Family Systems (IFS): a compassionate way to meet the parts of you that panic, protect, or push, so they don’t have to run the show

OCD Plan

In our first sessions, we map your OCD patterns and set clear, bite-sized goals. We’ll co-create exercises that fit your life—at home, at work, in relationships—so progress shows up where you actually need it. Between sessions, you’ll have simple practices to keep momentum going, and we’ll adjust as we learn what works best for you.

We will celebrate the small wins: leaving the house without circling back to check, touching what you avoid .... and realizing … you’re okay. Over time, those wins stack up. My clients consistently report spending less time in rituals, feeling more present, and getting their days—and their lives—back.
